Hello everyone!!!
Today is the Magnolia-licious DT has a fun project for you for the September Sketch Project! This month our hostess is the amazing Becca Feeken and she asked us to use some of those new Bon Voyage Magnolia stamps and create both a card AND either a fun backpack or suitcase.
I had a blast with this project! I never get the chance to do my vintage stuff much these days and for this I decided that is what I would do.
I have lots of photo's for you to look at. Some of them are a tad dark and couldn't get them to lighten up. Not good with photo shop. :o(
Below you will find the links for the Project tutorials..
SCS Mini Backpack Tutorial by Mary Arima HERE
and/or Mini Suitcase Tutorial by Suzanne J Dean HERE
When I started my project I did the wonderful mini suitcase tutorial by Suzanne. Then realized that I would not be able to put my card inside of it. So at that time I decided that I was going to have to make my own suitcase my own way. LOL....
The box that I have made is out of 2 12x12 pieces of cardstock and it measures 9 x 5.5 inches finshed. I have so many fun and wonderful products on the outside of it. Tons and tons of texture! Gosh do I love TEXTURE!!
Now just where do I start????
First of all what inspired me to make a bigger type suitcase was from this very fun handle that I just happen to find at a vintage paper store. I have used Bazzill cardstock and Webster's pages for the outside of my suitcase. I have inked and distressed all of the edges with inks and used my file just a tad. I have used man-made tooled leather for the straps to match my handle. On the corners I have used a very easy to bend gold tin that I did use my circle punch for and then used some Metallic Rub ons to make it look old and worn. If you look down in the left hand corner you will see that I have used a beautiful brass butterfly from Bead Art and some brown rhinestones around the clock on the paper. The tag that you see hanging is a piece of formica that you get at home stores as samples. I have decorated it with Prima Flowers, brads, ribbon, stick pin, doily, pearls, Tim Holtz journaling ticket and the key and heart metal pieces are from Bead Art.The tag reads: To My Friend. not sure where this stamps is from. sorry :o( As I stamped it the formica was just a tad slick and the stamp slip a bit. I decided that it was fine because of the old and distressed look of the case. Adds character right??? LOL...
So now do you want to see what is inside of my case?
Yes, you guessed it!!!!!!!
I have made a divider on the inside of my case.If you look close you will see that I have put a few Prima's on the tops of 3 of the candies. Of course the candies are all wrapped.

Now let's talk about the card...
Papers: Bazzill cardstock, Webster's Pagesembellies: man-made leather, trim, ribbon brown rhinestones, pearls, Prima Flowers, doily
I have used a piece of a Tim Holtz elegant flourishes. I have hand cut the heart that I stamped FORGET ME NOT on. I have used Crushed Shells andAntique Brass Glimmer Mist on the heart and part of the image.
I have used my copic markers to color the image and I have sewn the outer edge of the card.
The sketch that I used for my card is from Stamp With Fun challenge #74 by Saphira.
Now just a few close ups ....
On the picture above you can see that I have paper pierced around the whole image.
Now look at how cool that handles is!!!!! Notice the tin and leather like fabric I have used for a flap with a metal keyhole charm.
In the picture above can you see the antique brads that I put on the leather like straps?
On the picture above I have laid the case down a bit so you can see the texture of the card stock. I know it's hard to see but it has a beautiful texture of almost a leather look to it.Hugs, Janiel
